At a Walmart store in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday, a sign posted in the soap aisle stated, “Dish soap is experiencing a national supply shortage, impacting product availability for our customers. These shortages will remain until Dec. 1. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.” The shelves around the sign were appeared to be fully stocked with soap, however, despite the ominous warnings of a shortage.Foto: Shelves were full of dish soap at one Walmart store, despite warnings of a shortage.sourceBusiness Insider/Hayley Peterson Social media posts indicate that identical signs have been spotted in recent days at other Walmart stores, as well. Three people told Business Insider that they saw the signs at stores in West Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania. The reason for the apparent shortages is unclear. Walmart did not respond to requests for comment on the signs. Business Insider also contacted major dish-soap makers Procter & Gamble and Colgate-Palmolive. P&G makes Dawn and Gain dish soaps, and Colgate-Palmolive makes Palmolive and Ajax soaps. The companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
